Switch Board: Clicks, Haptics and All Off

How a browser switch board works, why sound and haptics stay separate, and how All off continues the fidget without a reload.

Quick Answer

A switch board fidget is a grid of latching toggles you flip in the browser. It is free, needs no download, and runs in the tab with no app and no account. Open the page, tap a switch, hear an optional click, and keep going. When the board is a mess of mixed latches, hit All off and start again.

For example: Input: a phone-width tab and sixteen switches in four columns. Output: a quiet sensory loop with optional sound and haptics, no install, and nothing uploaded about which switches you flipped.

Therefore this page is a toggle switch board you can use on a call with sound muted, or on a phone with haptics on, without granting notification permissions.

What is a switch board fidget?

People search for satisfying switches and mechanical switch simulators when they want the click of a real toggle without a hardware board on the desk. A video of someone flipping switches is the usual result. It looks right and does nothing when you tap it.

This page is the interactive version: sixteen latches in four columns, sized for a phone-width screen. Each switch stays on or off until you flip it again. That is the whole toy. There is no score, no timer, and no skin shop.

However, the useful part is control. Sound and vibration are separate. Keyboard users get one tab stop and arrow keys, not sixteen stops. All off continues the loop without a reload.

How does this switch board online work?

The board opens with every switch off. Tap one and three things happen in order.

The switch marks itself latched so a second event on the same press cannot fire again. The Feel engine plays a short click if Sounds are on. If Haptics are opted in, the same call asks the phone to vibrate once, and a missing vibrator is ignored instead of throwing.

For example, on a laptop with haptics left off, you still see the switch depress and may hear the click. On a phone with haptics on, you get the buzz as well. Sound and vibration stay independent, therefore muting for an open office does not turn vibration off for later.

Reduced motion (from your system or Settings → Feel) turns off switch transitions. Taps still latch and All off still works. Once Feel loads, the Full or Reduced choice under Settings → Feel overrides the system preference.

How do online switch fidgets handle sound?

Badly, on many pages. Always-on audio is fine alone and unusable on a shared desk. Phone apps often bury mute behind an IAP skin, or they tie sound and vibration to one switch so muting also kills haptics.

Here, both channels go through ToyTools.feel. The click is a short tone the browser synthesises. There is no audio file to download. Sounds default on; haptics default off. Change either under the board or Settings → Feel. A rejected haptic promise never stops the latch.

Therefore you can mute switch clicks but keep haptics for a phone session, or the reverse on a quiet call. That is how to use a switch board online without installing an app and without fighting the page for control of your speakers.

How to clear a mixed switch board

After flipping around, the board is a mess of mixed latches. Tap All off. That inflates nothing and scores nothing: it turns every switch off, leaves Feel preferences alone, and stays hidden while the board is already clear.

Reloading the tab when All off would continue the session is the common mistake this control exists to remove. Refreshing works, but it also drops focus and reloads assets.

Another failure shows up as a toggle that animates then snaps back: press and release both fire. This board latches on pointerdown and ignores the matching click, so the paired event is a no-op.

When a browser switch board helps

Quietly flipping switches through a long call with sound muted is the usual case. How to use a switch board with a keyboard is the same grid: Tab to the board, arrows to move, Space to flip. Giving someone a clicky fidget without ads or accounts is a third, because the page is just buttons.

Instead of an ASMR switch video, keep this tab beside a Pop It when you want bubbles instead of latches, or beside a Pomodoro timer between focus blocks. More toys live in the Fidgets category.

Switch board vs alternatives is mostly about whether you can actually flip something. An ASMR video is not interactive. A phone simulator app wants permissions and IAP skins. This page asks for a tap. Pick the app only if you need a home screen icon. Otherwise the online board is enough. Once the tab has loaded, it keeps working without a server.

Try the board

Open the tool, flip a few switches, mute sound from the board toggles if you need to, and tap All off when the latches are a mess. That is the whole product.
