How to Clean a Chat Export

Strip timestamps and speaker labels from a copied chat. The page does not rewrite it. Runs entirely on your device. Nothing is uploaded.

Quick Answer

What is a chat export? It is a copied chat transcript. A chat log cleaner, or transcript cleaner, strips a speaker label, a timestamp, an empty code fence, and a citation chip when you ask it to. The cleaner is not a model.

Why it matters

A conversation cleaner, which is also a transcript cleaner, is for the moment you want the words without the chrome. For example, a timestamp on every line makes a quote unreadable. Removing it here does not summarize the chat.

How it works

How to clean a copied conversation: paste the text and leave the boxes that match what you want removed. Which speaker labels are recognized? User, Human, You, Assistant, and the names ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Grok, plus System. A leading time in brackets is a timestamp. A fullwidth bracket chip is a citation chip.

How to keep only code blocks from a chat: choose Code blocks. Everything outside a fence is dropped, and the page says so. Keeping every turn vs keeping user turns is that same choice. Cleaning a transcript vs rewriting it is a different job. This page does not rewrite.

It does not understand every export format. A paste with none of those markers is only tidied.
